St. Matthew maintains a Building Fund which works primarily as a “rainy day” fund to help us pay for those big surprises that sneak up on the owners of a 75-year-old building. This past year, we had to dip into those funds to pay for roof patching and for fire emergency code updates. The Church Council has set a goal of $5,000 for the congregation to give, above regular giving, to replenish the fund and help us get ahead of future extra building expenses.
Look for the Building on Faith giving tree in the fellowship hall. There will be tickets hanging from the tree, showing various expenses that we need help with. Please pull the ticket of the item you would like to give towards off the tree and include it with your gift.
When giving for this project, please use your special white Building Fund envelopes from your box of envelopes, or simply use a pew envelope, indicating your name and that the gift is for the Building Fund.

Time after Pentecost
May 23 through November 27, 2024
The time after Pentecost, also known as Ordinary Time, is the longest season in the liturgical calendar that extends from the day after Pentecost (which is celebrated 50 days after Easter) until the beginning of Advent. The liturgical color for this season is green, symbolizing growth, life, and hope.
The term “ordinary” comes from the Latin word “ordinalis,” which refers to numbers in a series. This time is not “ordinary” in the sense of being common but is called such because the Sundays are numbered sequentially. This season focuses on the growth of the Church and the spread of the Gospel. It emphasizes the teachings and miracles of Jesus, encouraging believers to grow in their faith and participate in the mission of the Church. The lectionary readings and themes during this period often center on what it means to follow Jesus and live out Christian faith in daily life.

At the end of our time in worship we head out to go in peace and serve the Lord. Where might God be calling you to serve? Together we explore ways that we can be a witness of Christ, offering hope for a better world. Christ lives in you and Christ goes with you. You are not alone.
Serve the Lord
Our own Rev. Cliff Eshbach is Camp Nawakwa’s new interim director! Cliff will be serving in these crucial 6 months as the camp prepares for the 2024 summer season and as the leadership goes through the discernment process, seeking a new camp director.
What does it mean to be a Reconciling in Christ partner congregation?
It means we are an OPEN and AFFIRMING congregation so when we say “all are welcome,” we really mean it. We strive to live that out in our actions as well as our words. We publicly and humbly commit to do what it takes to truly be a sanctuary filled with warmth, love, understanding, safety, respect, and care for all who enter here.
