Steward Six was made possible by a generous grant from the Stewardship of Life Institute.

Steward Six is a six-week journey of opportunities to notice, reflect, and respond to God’s generosity. Each week brings a simple invitation to look at generosity in a new way and consider how your own gifts can make a difference.

Your Steward Six booklet for the next 6 weeks

Your Steward Six booklet for the next 6 weeks

September 26 - November 7

Over the next six weeks, we invite you to prayerfully consider how best to use the gifts you receive through Steward Six. May each gift be an opportunity to share God’s love and generosity with someone else.

Post your reflection card each week!

Post your reflection card each week!

Each week, your Steward Six booklet gives you an opportunity to notice, try something new, and think about what you’ve experienced.
Take a few minutes to answer the questions on your reflection card. You might have a thought, a story, something you noticed, or simply something you’d like to share.
Then post your card on the Steward Six display in Fellowship Hall. Let’s see what we discover together!

September 26, 2026

While it may have been a dreary, rainy evening outside, it was warm and inviting inside as we gathered for worship, blessed the quilts, and shared a meal during the Steward Six Kick-Off. Those who attended received their Steward Six booklets and learned what to expect during the six weeks ahead.

WEEK # 1 - A SMALL BEGINNING

WEEK # 1 - A SMALL BEGINNING

September 27 - October 3

Whoever is faithful in a very little is faithful also in much. –
Luke 16:10

What good could this small gift do?
Although the gift is small, the possibilities are not. Carry this $6 with you during the week. Notice what it could do and pay attention to the needs you encounter along the way. Pray about where it might go.

By the end of the week, decide where this money belongs—whether it is given, shared, returned, or kept.

WEEK # 2 - DAILY BREAD

WEEK # 2 - DAILY BREAD

October 4-10

Give us this day our daily bread –
Matthew 6:11

Where do you see daily needs around you this week?
Carry this card with you during the week. Even a small provision can become a blessing. Pray about how this gift might offer care. You might give it to someone you know, pass it along to someone in need, or offer it to a ministry such as the Community Meal or the Brecht Elementary Thanksgiving Project.

If you want to return your grocery gift card to support one of these ministries, envelopes are available in Fellowship Hall or beside the offering plate.

By week’s end, offer this gift where you believe it will do the most good.

WEEK # 3 - SENT WITH CARE

October 11-17

Like good stewards of the manifold grace of God, serve one another with whatever gift each of you has received –
1 Peter 4:10

Who might need a kind word from you this week?
Six stamps. Six opportunities to connect. Use them to send notes, letters, or cards to people who have shaped your life or simply need encouragement.

Mail them at the end of the week and share God’s love.

WEEK # 4 - GIVING TOGETHER

WEEK # 4 - GIVING TOGETHER

October 18-24

But who am I, and what is my people, that we should be able to make this freewill offering? For all things come from you, and of your own have we given you –
1 Chronicles 29:14

What becomes possible when we give together?
This week’s $6 is offered for the shared work of our congregation. One small gift may not seem like much—but together our gifts make a difference. Through them, our congregation supports worship, learning, service, and the church’s ongoing presence in this community.

At week’s end, place this gift in the offering as a sign of the work we share.

WEEK # 5 - BEYOND THE PLATE

October 25-31

Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of services, but the same Lord –
1 Corinthians 12:4-5

Where is God already at work through you?
Our congregation serves neighbors, causes, and ministries beyond these walls. In doing so, we shift from just giving to the church to being a church that gives.

This week, use the index card to list six ways you share your time, talents, or resources beyond this congregation. Place the card in the offering plate. The responses will be shared anonymously in the bulletin.

WEEK # 6 - YOUR TURN

WEEK # 6 - YOUR TURN

November 1-7

Each of you must give as you have made up your mind, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver –
2 Corinthians 9:7

How has your understanding of $6 changed?
Over these weeks, you have noticed small gifts, daily needs, shared generosity, and the many ways God’s loves moves through ordinary acts of care.

This final $6 is yours to discern. You may give it to a person, an organization, the church, or use it to meet a need you have discovered along the way.
